So, you want to save money on your bills?
Good! Energy bills are one of the most unattended bills within the average UK household, with most people accepting renewal prices and taking an approach of “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it”. That’s a great approach to take in a lot of situations, however energy bill renewals isn’t one of them!
Before jumping too deep in this article – it’s worth having a read of our blog post 5 Reasons To Use Government Grants to Improve Your Home.
First up – ECO3!
ECO3 is a great grant to start with, for more information on ECO3 it’s worth having a look at our page What is ECO3? This will help you to understand the depth of ECO3 and where it originates from. Under ECO3 funding, you could qualify for:
- Cavity Wall Insulation – 35% of your heat leaves through the walls!
- Boiler Upgrade – Boilers even 10 years old could be costing you £100s a year!
- Loft Insulation – Offers savings in the region of £150-300 per year.
- Solid Wall Insulation – Savings up to £400 per year!
ECO3 has a fairly wide catchment of homeowners for qualification, full funding options are also available and are super common when we speak to our customers.
If you feel like you could benefit from any of the above measures, head over to our apply now page and let us do the heavy lifting for you.
First Time Central Heating Grant – (FTCH)
Technically, First Time Central Heating (from hereon in FTCH) is a grant that falls under the ECO scheme listed above but it is worth mentioning on its own given the number of houses that still don’t have a central heating system and the costs associated with installing central heating.
The qualifying criteria here is the same as ECO3 with some stipulations changing around people living in a housing association. This is great news because the value of installing central heating is anywhere upwards of around £4,500 which is a fairly large number to swallow, under ECO3 a large number of households qualify for this grant fully funded!
You’ll get the following:
- A brand new, A-Rated boiler.
- Radiators in all habitable rooms.
- New pipework installed.
- Mains gas connection if not present already.
You’ll also benefit from a huge reduction in your energy bill, it’s been noted in studies previously that a gas central heating system will heat a room to the desired temperature up to 50% cheaper than an electric system.
Again, if this sounds like it would benefit you please take the 3 minutes to fill out our Eligibility Checker and let us do the heavy lifting.
What’s available in my area?
There are some area restrictions on some of the grants we provide access to – it may be useful for you to use the Funding Finder supplied by the Energy Saving Trust to show what’s available to you locally.
